Lou Tonkin / Creators Series

Artist Lou Tonkin in her studio.

Being a freelance photographer is a dichotomy of loneliness and joy. It is often a solitary pursuit, but it has the power to place you in front of unique, talented and incredibly interesting people. It can also just give you an excuse to get to know someone better. Lou is the first in a long term study of creators in the SW. I feel remarkably grateful to have met Lou, she’s incredibly inspiring. A talented artist, with a kind and wise heart. Lou has built a very impressive business around her art. Add to that raising three kids solely on a creative income. Utterly mind blowing.

There is a moving image element to this series, and I am compelled to acknowledge @tomoxleyphoto - a very old friend of mine, who was the first artist (as far as I’m aware), to using the moving portrait to create a series. You inspired me many years later to add this element to my series.
