St Vincent Tokyo

St VIncent Tokyo Jan 2012

My first trip to Japan was with Q magazine and @niallmdoherty on πŸ–ŠοΈ duty, we were there to do a live feature on St. Vincent. We spent the first 48 hours wandering around in a jet lagged haze, it was one of the most joyful experiences of my life, a dream come true to be fair.

I think it’s the one and only time I’ve seen her live, it was a fucking awe-inspiring performance. Afterwards, I convinced Anne to come down to Shibuya to the famous crossing. We had just 6 minutes to capture her on the streets. Halfway around the world, for a few moments, work.

A friend and I were talking about how we managed to be a part of the last moments of music journalism, where trips abroad were still the norm. I feel very lucky to have had the chance to be one of the main contributors at NME, Q and Kerrang during that time.
